Like the Brazilians, who have taken advantage of the acai berry, the US market is suddenly very eager to take advantage of this fruit. As a result, the market is flooded with products containing the acai berry. Despite this, the demand continues.
Though there are many other products out there that use the acai berry in one way or another, MonaVie continues to be the leading company in research about the fruit, transporting it, preserving it and using it to create the highest quality product.

Even though the natives of the Amazon have known for hundreds of years about the great health benefits of the acai berry, it is only in the past several years that scientists have truly discovered the nutritional value of this berry in a way we can understand.
Their discoveries are extremely interesting. They’ve found the acai berry to be loaded with nutritional value. This includes all kinds of antioxidants, healthy fats, fiber, amino acids, complex carbohydrates, vitamins and mineral. The berry also has a low gylcemnic index and is high in anthocynanins. Anthocynanins are extremely powerful antioxidants that are also found in red wine.

It is told in legends that the native warriors in tribes in Brazil ate the acai berry before going into battle with rival tribes because it was such a potent energy booster. Today, many natives of Brazil continue to extract the seeds of the berry into a pulp to make paste. This paste is then eaten with fish and their other indigenous foods. It is not uncommon for this paste to be consumed daily during their main harvesting season, which spans from August to December.
As the acai berry becomes better known across the globe, technology has met the challenge of making this very special fruit available to the rest of us not lucky enough to be born in Brazil.
MonaVie has been involved in this process from the beginning. We are dedicated to bringing you the best this special fruit has to offer.

Recently, the Acai berry was recognized on an episode of Oprah Winfrey’s television show entitled “Look 10 years younger in 10 Days”. The television program named the acai berry in the top ten superfoods in the world for combating aging. NBC’s Today show referred to the acai berry as the “Viagra of the Amazon.” News articles from around the world including the Washing Post, Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated have also praised the health benefits of the berry.
In Brazil, the native country of the acai berry, the secret is spreading. Ninety percent of all the acai berries are grown in the state of Para, found in northern Brazil. Belem, a large city surrounded by Amazon rain forest and tributaries of the Amazon River, is the hotspot for the harvesting of the berry. The people in this area have consumed acai for centuries, even using it to treat numerous ailments of health.

All these fruits mentioned in the previous post are combined in MonaVie juice. Each ingredient in carefully selected but when mixed together the result is far greater than what any single fruit alone could accomplish.
Jeff Graham, product developer at MonaVie, has this to say:
“These fruits were not picked because they were pretty or because they were easy to get. They were picked for the variety of benefits they bring to our unique blend.”
MonaVie knows that even though it is possible for someone to each all these fruits in their solid and obtain similar health benefits, it is not very practical. That is why with MonaVie, you can simply take a small amount of the juice and get a huge amount of benefits.

Acai (pronounced ah-SIGH-ee) is a small, deep purple fruit about the size of a grape. It grows in clusters on the acai palm (Euterpe oleracea) in the lush rain forests on Brazil and Peru.
This berry is extremely nutrient-dense, and plays a starring role in the MonaVie formula. The total health benefit of MonaVie is reached by mixing the acai berry with 18 other fruits.
Some of these fruits are well-known, such as pomegranates, purple and white grapes, pears, cranberries, passion fruit, bananas, apricots, prunes, kiwis and blueberries.
Other fruits found in MonaVie are not so common. They come from the four corners of the world and include camu camu, which is also from the Amazon rain forest; bilberries, which are found throughout the world’s temperate and sub artic regions, wolfberries and lychee from China; the nashi pear from Asia; and the acerola fruit, harvested in Brazil and Vietnam, which contains high levels of vitamin C.

This berry has been called the crown jewel of all of MonaVie’s products, and for good reason. It is absolutely packed with nutritional value. Scientists have been known to call it one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world today.
Jeff Graham, who is MonaVie’s director of product development and an integral part of the company, sums it up best:

You’ve probably heard many people talk about the acai berry and its high level of antioxidants and the innumerable amount of health benefits they result in. But just what are antioxidants and how do they help us to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you ask? Well let me tell you:
Antioxidants are essentially any molecule that prevents the oxidation of other molecules. Many oxidation reactions can produce free radicals which can be damaging to other molecules in your body. Glutathione, vitamin C and vitamin E are common antioxidants that do just that, though there are many more.

Omega 6 fatty acids are also plentiful in the acai berry. They, like Omega 3 fatty acids, are a type of EFA (essential fatty acid). The difference between the two lies in the location of the double (covalent) bond, or the sharing of electrons between atoms. In Omega 6 fatty acids, this bond is located six atoms from the end of the chain, whereas in Omega 3 fatty acids it is located three atoms from the end.
Omega 6 fatty acids serve as a balance to the Omega 3s. A healthy balance will ensure good health and efficient cellular processes. More often than not though, the balance is off kilter, and it is usually the Omega 6s that win out. An excess of Omega 6 fatty acids can lead to prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women. You shouldn’t worry about this when eating the acai berry though, since it has more than enough Omega 3 EFAs to balance out its Omega 6 EFA content. It is more through the excess consumption of foods like eggs, meat and vegetable oil that health problems can occur. Again, it is about a healthy balance as both EFAs work together to ensure our cellular processes run smoothly.

Omega 3 fatty acids make up a big part of the makeup of the Acai berry, and are responsible for many of its incredible health benefits. They are the reason that the Acai berry can fight cancerous cells and prevent their reproduction. Omega 3 fatty acids are part of the family of unsaturated fatty acids, meaning contain a double bond, or share electrons, somewhere in their structure.
Omega 3 fatty acids are also found in meats, fish, flax and eggs. They cannot be synthesized by the body and therefore it is important that they are obtained through dietary means. What separates these fatty acids from others is their function. They are not merely used as fuel but rather aid in important cellular processes throughout the body at a cellular level.
